2.2 Normes américaines ANSI, NFPA, UL (National Consensus Standards)

Outre les normes OSHA, l'administration OSHA est autorisée à contrôler et à imposer le respect des National Consensus Standards. Il s'agit de normes, de règlements relatifs à la santé et à la sécurité en cours de travail ou de modifications qui

  • ont été adoptés et diffusés par une organisation fixant des normes reconnues au niveau national (ANSI, UL par ex.)

  • sont désignés comme normes par le Ministère du travail (Secretary of Labor)

  • traitent sous la forme de normes internationales de thèmes ou de domaines (IEC, ISO) qui ne sont couverts par aucune norme américaine.

Les U.S. National Consensus Standards sont donc des normes qui complètent les normes OSHA. Voici une liste reprenant plusieurs organismes chargés d'émettre ce type de normes :
